What is Australian Trusted Trader (ATT)?
The Australian Trusted Trader program is an initiative of the (Australian) Department of Home Affairs. It aims to reduce red tape for accredited businesses. It also aims to increase border security, supply chain security, and to streamline exports and imports. It is an AEO program and mutual recognized by various other AEO programs. ATT is in accordance with the World Customs Organization’s SAFE framework for aligning AEO programs.
What are the benefits of the Australian Trusted Trader program?
Being a Trusted Trader within the ATT program has various advantages.
- Trusted Traders get a dedicated account manager, which assists in improving compliance with border requirements. He also resolves potential border clearance issues.
- Priority procedures of goods at the border. Accredited businesses benefit from faster customs processing and fewer interventions. Imports from Trusted Traders are considered low risk.
- Priority processes NTAC and NRI. Trusted Traders receive priority processing through the National Trade Advice Centre and the National Refunds Intervention.
- Exclusive event for Trusted Traders.
- Use of Australian Trusted Trader logo.
- Accredited businesses benefit from mutual recognition arrangements with other AEO programs.
Who is eligible for ATT?
Australian businesses which can demonstrate a secure supply chain and high levels of trade compliance can join ATT for free if they meet the following conditions.
- The business is an importer, exporter or a service provider.
- The business must have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- It has to be active in the international supply chain for a minimum of 2 years.
- It must be financially solvent.
How to apply for ATT?
If you want to become an Australian Trusted Trader you have to take the following steps.
- Register for an ImmiAccount or login to your existing ImmiAccount.
- Complete you online application for ATT in your ImmiAccount.
After these steps your business is visited and your application is reviewed.

- Classified Management of Enterprises (China)
- Hong Kong AEO program
- India AEO program
- Japan AEO program

- Taiwan AEO program
- Thailand AEO program
Australian Trusted Traders benefit in these countries from faster clearance times at borders and more efficient dealings with overseas customs authorities.
